Virgin London Marathon

Danny BowlingWe are incredibly proud of our six runners who took part in the Virgin London Marathon on 22 April.

Team RLSB 2012 have raised a whopping £12,000 of vital funds for blind and partially sighted young people, with more donations and matched funding coming in.

A big well done to all those who took part on the day – we were glad to hear that they all had a fantastic time and finished before the rain began!

Danny Bowling, our fastest runner, described completing the marathon as “an unbelievable experience”.

“Training for a marathon seemed daunting at first but with support from family and friends the months leading up to the big day flew past. The day itself was incredible, the atmosphere was unbelievable and I enjoyed every minute although in pain for most of the run.

“Raising money for a great cause like RLSB made every moment worth it, even training in the snow and clocking 30 miles a week to prepare myself for the big day.

“I would encourage others to push yourself beyond what you believe may be possible and support a great cause. The greatest achievement of my life so far.”
