Our website is designed and tested to ensure it is accessible with a variety of web browsers and screen readers. We hope these guidelines help you to get the most from the site.

Flash: you can disable and enable the Flash animations

How?
To disable the animations: In the 'Accessibility' box in the top right hand corner, simply click the 'Disable Flash' tab, then 'View'.
To enable the animations: In the 'Accessibility' box in the top right hand corner, simply click the 'Enable Flash' tab, then 'View'.

Invert colours: you can invert the colours to be white text on a black page.
 
How?
In the 'Accessibility' box in the top right hand corner, simply click the tab, then click 'Invert colours' and then 'View'.

Enlarge text size: you can enlarge the text 3 times.
 
How?
In the 'Accessibility' box in the top right hand corner, simply click the tab, then click 'Enlarge size' and then 'View'. 
 
Default settings:
To return to the default settings click in the 'Accessibility' box in the top right hand corner, simply click the tab, then click 'Default size' and then 'View'.
 
Navigating the site
 
The top bar menu has links to the main 6 sections of the website. Please choose a section to be directed to a page that includes the 3 sub-sections of that section and their associated pages.
 
Example:
Clicking on 'Hospitality' in the top bar will direct you to a page with sub-sections named 'Corporate Events', 'Civil Ceremonies' and 'Special Events'. Within the 'Special Events' sub-section, links to relevant pages entitled 'Naming Ceremonies' and 'Parties' can be found.

Additional related pages and links can then be found on each page and are listed under 'Related Pages' or relevant groups such as 'Application Form' on the 'Opportunities at the RLSB' page. The 'Latest News' and 'Next Event' listing are also on every page.

Options to navigate back to the top of the existing page and to navigate back to the sections main page (Hospitality, for example) or sub-section (Special Events, for example) are also on each page.
 
Searching the site
 
In the 'Search' box in the top right hand corner, simply type the word(s) you wish to search for and click 'Find'.

Example: 
Type in 'donate' and click 'Find' which will list the relevant pages and a brief explanation of them. 
 
Sitemap
 
A sitemap is a link in the footer section on each page.
 
Site features
 
The site has the following features:  

  • Each page is designed to fit in a 800x600 view with no horizontal scrolling
  • Accessibility tabs have been included in the header of each page to allow text enlargement and colour inversion
  • Every image has a descriptive ALT text alternative
  • All hyperlinks have meaningful text
  • A sans serif font is used throughout
  • A clear colour scheme with high contrasts
  • Consultation and accessibility testing with visually impaired users
