Transition

In addition to careers advice and guidance, you can expect support to ensure that all your needs are met when you leave Dorton College. We have a dedicated Transition Team who work with students, their families and external agencies to ensure that they are able to move on from Dorton College with confidence knowing that their housing and support needs will be met in the future.

Transition can be simply defined as a process which brings together the people who will ensure that our students can plan ahead for their future as they enter adulthood. With the right support and guidance all young people, even those with complex needs are capable of achieving a high quality of life and successfully manage independent living.

It is important to understand the transition process as providing young people with llife rather than services. It means listening to the needs of our students and their families and ensuring that those needs are met through close multi-agency collaborations, within a holistic and person centred structure.

Students at Dorton College are given the skills and confidence to maximise their independance and to be able to achieve success throughout their adult lives.
