Guidance and Support
The RLSB Community and Transition Service provides information, advice and guidance to help you overcome obstacles associated with being visually impaired and improve your quality of life.
We provide an individualised service to suit your needs. We will meet with you to find out what your needs are, develop a plan of action with you and support you to make links with local organisations that can help you. Below are examples of ways we can help;
Benefits
We can provide information about what benefits you are entitled to and advice on how to apply for benefits.
Housing
Support with getting appropriate modifications and adaptations needed to your home. We can signpost you to appropriate support if you need to be re-housed.
Daily Living Skills
We can signpost you in the right direction if you need assistive aids, support or equipment for the home, cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping, budgeting, childcare.
Mobility
We can help you to improve your level of mobility; help you access mobility training, apply for a guide dog.
Social and Recreational Support
We will support you to access the local community e.g. Clubs, college, sports and social groups.
Counselling & Support Services
We can help you access counselling services, support groups, low vision clinics in your area; register as a blind/visually impaired person.
