Experiencing new things
“Hi, I’m Joe and I go to RLSB’s School. We went to CenterParcs a few weeks ago and it was brilliant. We went swimming, bowling and had visit to the safari park. I was scared of touching the lizards and snakes at first, but my teacher helped me and in the end I held a python! I never thought I’d do anything like that. I loved it. Thank you!”
A unique approach
Our School’s approach to learning includes multi-sensory teaching methods, adapted teaching technologies, mobility training and therapies for blind and partially sighted children who may also have additional needs. Children are encouraged to develop both vital academic abilities, as well as skills for independent living to empower them to live within a sighted world. RLSB’s Dorton House School also offers pupils a rich variety of experiences and challenges (like Joe’s trip to CenterParcs), to help them grow in confidence and social skills. Encouraging pupils to live life without limits is key to the school’s aims. With your help, the RLSB can continue to help children like Joe experience new things and realise their potential.
